Triads are 3-note chords: Major (1-3-5), Minor (1-b3-5), Diminished (1-b3-b5), Augmented (1-3-#5), Sus2 (1-2-5), Sus4 (1-4-5).
Seventh chords add a 4th note: Major 7th (1-3-5-7), Minor 7th (1-b3-5-b7), Dominant 7th (1-3-5-b7), Diminished 7th (1-b3-b5-bb7), Half-Diminished (1-b3-b5-b7).
Extended chords go beyond the 7th: 9th chords add the 9th (2nd an octave up), Add9 adds just the 9th without the 7th, and 6th chords replace the 7th with the 6th.
