How to Use the BPM Detector

  1. Play the song you want to find the tempo of.
  2. Tap the button (or press Spacebar) in time with the beat.
  3. After a few taps, the BPM will be calculated and displayed in real time.
  4. Keep tapping to improve accuracy — the average stabilizes after 8–10 taps.
  5. Click Open in Metronome to practice at the detected tempo.
  6. Press Reset to start over with a new song.

Tempo Markings Reference

Classical tempo markings indicate the character and speed of a piece:

Grave (20–40) — very slow, solemn | Largo (40–60) — slow, broad | Adagio (60–76) — slow, at ease | Andante (76–108) — walking pace | Moderato (108–120) — moderate | Allegro (120–156) — fast, lively | Vivace (156–176) — very fast | Presto (176–210) — extremely fast | Prestissimo (210+) — as fast as possible
